Akash shook her hand and nodded as if they had never met before. As if not just a month and a half ago they hadn’t been entwined in each other’s bodies in the same bed. As if touching her hand had no effect on him what-so-ever, when her body had questioned why they were only touching hands as opposed to melting in one another.
“Nice to finally meet you, Ms. Pandya. I’ve heard a great deal about you from your father.”
Reena gave a curt nod as she pulled her hand free of the strength and warmth of his. He should get an Oscar. He showed zero signs of knowing her. Or maybe he truly was not affected. Because maybe he really didn’t care. “I can’t say I’ve heard anything of you. So you have me at a disadvantage, as my parents have yet to tell me the deal they struck with you.”
Her father cleared his throat. “Mr. Gupta insisted we keep this a surprise.”
Reena raised an eyebrow at her father, forcing herself to remain calm. Did he?
Akash spoke as they walked to the table. “I understand that Lulu’s is having financial difficulties. Unable to make the bank payments, struggling to meet operating costs.” He had the audacity to fix her in his gaze.
“That is true.” Reena met his eyes, masking her expression as she had so many times. “I had something in mind to help, but it has fallen through.”
