“This wasn’t happening. Of all the people she could have expected to see today, Aneel Rawal was quite literally last on her list. In fact, he wouldn’t have even made the list.
Yet here he was, the cheater. Why was he in crisp chef’s whites? And how did he know her boss, Deepak?
Whatever the reason, it was not good.
“Deepak,” she said, fixing her death glare on Aneel. “What is he doing here?”
“Oh.” Deepak cleared his throat. “You two…ah…know each other?”
“Unfortunately,” Karina answered, still trying to melt Aneel as he stood before her. Aneel, for his part, simply stared at her, his jaw clenched, dark eyes clouding over with anger or surprise. He looked exactly as he had seven years ago.
Well, maybe not exactly. He was broader, like his whites finally fit him properly. All of him seemed more filled out, in fact. The dark eyes were the same, the same glint of amusement—or was it irritation?—that had been there all those years ago. His lips were pressed together in annoyance, that beautiful jaw set. Humph. So maybe time had been more than kind to him. It did not matter. Not one bit.”
“So…uh…well, there seems to be some tension between you.” Deepak’s grin widened. “That’s even better.”
